I’ve been leaning towards a more minimal approach to my everyday makeup look during recent weeks, and have been reaching for my beloved Dior DiorSnow BB Cream more than ever before. This BB Cream is by far one of my favourite BB Creams, because it truly delivers on its promises and does as a BB Cream should, which is provide hydration (seriously, I often skip moisturiser and apply this directly after my serum, particularly as the weather hots up), disguise flaws and imperfections, protect your skin from the sun, and act as a skincare product to boot (this one is fantastic for treating dark spots and pigmentation. I’ve definitely noticed an improvement when used religiously).
I’m a big fan of blusher, and I’ve mentioned my love for Stila Custom Colour Blush in Coral before. This, along with Chanel’s Le Blush Creme de Chanel in ‘Presage’, is one of my must-haves for paler complexions (although, given that this forms part of the ‘Custom Colour’ range, I suspect that this blusher would work well on just about any skin tone). I don’t typically wear a bronzer, but since discovering Matis Bronzing Powder, I’ve been applying bronzer along my jawline, underneath my cheekbones, and up towards my temples on a daily basis.
Another fairly recent addition to my daily makeup routine, is Chanel Illusion D’Ombre in Fatal, which is a gorgeous, bronze shadow that I can only describe as having a mousse-like texture. This shadow is fantastic – it blends really well, and it offers buildable colour, so you can decide whether you’re in the mood for a light wash or a dramatic, coppery sheen on lids. This little pot is accompanied with a brush, which can be used to apply shadow over the entire lid or to line your eyes. I typically apply a subtle wash over the entire lid, then I carefully line my lower lash line using the brush. I use a chunky felt-tip liner (I’m currently using a Smashbox Felt-Tip Liner, which is a limited edition product that was available earlier this year) to line my upper lash line, and I finish by flicking the liner up and out to create a wing. Two coats of mascara (essence I [heart] Extreme Mascara is a fantastic budget-friendly buy that really delivers) and I’m set.
I usually wear red lipstick or a sheer gloss – nothing in between – but I’ve been playing around with different shades of lip colour over the past few weeks. Bobbi Brown Creamy Lip Color in Soft Blush is a recent rediscovery that’s gone right back to the top of my love list. I love everything about this lipstick: the rich, creamy texture, the flattering nude hue, and the fact that it wears for so much longer than most creamy formulations I’ve tried. Sadly, I’ve done a few google searches and asked around, and it seems that this shade is no longer available. If you happen to find it at a Bobbi Brown counter, please let me know? I’ve had this lipstick for over a year now and it’s almooost finished, and I’m loving it so much at the moment that I’d love to repurchase it.
