Are dark spots getting you down? You’ll want to get your hands on new Dermalogica PowerBright TRx™, a powerful trio of products that effectively treats pigmentation and helps prevent the formation of dark spots.

When I was younger, I thought that my hormonal breakouts were the worst possible skin concern, but as I approach my 30s (and particularly after my pregnancy), I’ve realised that there is a skin issue that’s much, much worse: pigmentation.

I’ve tried just about every skincare lotion and potion that promises to fade dark spots, ‘brighten’ your complexion, and prevent pigmentation, and I’ll be honest: I’m yet to find something that actually works (apart from slathering SPF on your face every. single. day. to prevent dark spots from forming, that is). Thankfully, the answer seems to have come in the form of Dermalogica’s new PowerBright TRx™ skincare range, a potent trio of skin-brighteners that help to offset hyperpigmentation and dark spots caused by sun exposure, age, and hormones.

Based on skincare launches and presentations I’ve attended during the past few months, it seems that pigmentation is a hot topic in the beauty world, and one that countless women are faced with. In fact, recent studies show that an uneven skin tone is now the leading age-marker, suggesting that most women who are looking for anti-ageing skincare products are more concerned with treating dark spots and pigmentation than they are with reducing the appearance of wrinkles.

I’ve been using Dermalogica’s PowerBright TRx™ C-12 Pure Bright Serum (R1200) underneath my moisturiser twice daily over the past few of weeks, and I’m in love. My skin is more radiant, and so many people have complimented me on my healthy ‘glow’ during recent weeks. I’ve only been using this serum for about a month, so apart from a definite improvement in my skin’s luminosity, I haven’t noticed much of a change just yet… but watch this space. I expect BIG things from this potent little guy!

For those of you who are interested, the C-12 Pure Bright Serum contains an exclusive blend of peptides, including Dermalogica’s new Oligopeptide-51 combined with Oligopeptide-34, which are said to be the newest agents to fight melanin formation.

It goes without saying that a good, quality SPF product is essential if you’re concerned about pigmentation, so I’ve been topping this with Dermalogica’s PowerBright TRx™ Pure Light SPF50 (R895) in the mornings.

Quite possibly my favourite product from this range, the PowerBright TRx™ Pure Night (R1080) is a nourishing night cream that is formulated with an active blend of Oligopeptide-34 and skin brightening Vitamin C, along with Cranberry and Raspberry Seed Oils to help restore your skin’s barrier lipids, while hydrating your skin and reducing the appearance of fine dehydration lines. (Big shout out to Dermalogica for the awesome pump packaging to ensure that all these active ingredients remain stable).

What’s your biggest skincare concern? Have you noticed more dark spots forming as you get older? During or after pregnancy? I know that’s where my pigmentation woes began!
