Christmas is just three weeks away! I can’t believe how quickly this year has flown… it feels like just the other day that I sat down to film my first ever Christmas gift guide (you can watch that one, here – there are some lovely gift ideas that you can still buy for friends and family this year!)
This year, I tried to get my ducks in a row as early as possible and I’ve filmed four Christmas gift guides in total – one with gift ideas for her, another sharing my gift ideas for him, plus some great pressies for all the little people in your life. I’ll end off the series with a post and video sharing my top budget buys (beauty and otherwise) and some stocking filler ideas, so if you haven’t already, sign up for my newsletter (over on the right of this post) and subscribe to my YouTube channel here to make sure that you stay in the loop! Click on the video below to see what made my list of top gifts for her this year, then read on for full details on each product.
TheraVine Lemon Zest Massage Candle (R186)
When in doubt, get her a candle! I don’t know many women who wouldn’t love a scented candle for Christmas – especially when it’s as beautiful as this one! I love the signature ‘V’ shaped glass holder, and I think the sleek wooden block that it sits on top of is a lovely finishing touch. The candle itself is absolutely divine – it contains a blend of plant waxes and butters that’s perfect for massaging away any aches and pains, while the uplifting citrus aromas of lime, sweet orange and lemongrass serves to boost your mood. It’s a real goodie! Find your nearest stockist here.
Chanel No. 5 Eau De Parfum (R1,055)
To celebrate the holidays, Chanel has launched a new limited edition 35ml travel-friendly version of it’s iconic Chanel No. 5 Eau De Parfum. My granny is absolutely obsessed with this fragrance and, while I can’t afford to buy her the full-size version, I may just be able to snap up this sleek, handbag sized version for her (my brothers and I will chip in together!) The one thing that makes this timeless fragrance stand out amongst all other fragrances out there is the fact that 80 different ingredients has been used in it’s composition and yet, no single identifiable dominant note steals the limelight. As Madame Coco Chanel herself used to say, “it’s a woman’s fragrance that smells like a woman.” Find it at Chanel counters nationwide.
Chanel Le Top Coat Lame Rouge Noir (R380)
Designed to complement the original Le Vernis Rouge Noir, which was launched over 20 years ago in 1995, Le Top Coat Lame Rouge Noir adds a festive spin to this iconic nail colour with it’s vibrant metallic shimmers. Rather than the usual thick, glittery bits that I’ve come to expect from a glitter nail polish, Le Top Coat Lame’s fine, delicate sparkles is more fine gold leaf than cheap sparkle. It beautifully complements the deep red-black tones of the original Rouge Noir, and works equally well over all other nail colour shades. It’s the perfect, high-end pressie for the beauty lover that already has it all. Find it at Chanel counters nationwide.
Tangle Angel (R290)
Anti-bacterial, anti-static and heat-resistant… these are all things that I never even thought to look for in a detangling hairbrush, but since discovering the Tangle Angel, it’s been near impossible to go back to using my run-of-the-mill hairbrush that I was using before. The Tangle Angel has a contoured base that’s been designed specifically to ensure that the bristles are positioned at different heights for optimal detangling. It’s ergonomic design allows you to use it in one of two ways: hold it by the handle to use as an everyday brush, or grab it around the wings for more control and manageability while gliding through pesky knots and tangles. It’s heat-resistant to help prevent static and flyways, leaving your hair feeling silky smooth and looking super-shiny… I can’t imagine that there’s a woman out there who would say no to this little angel! Available for purchase online over at RetailBox – click here for more.
Pssst… there’s also a a Tangle Cherub (R260), which is the perfect size for children (or popping in your handbag), while the Pet Angel (R280) is a must for animal lovers. I also have a Tangle Angel Baby (R80), which is a teeny tiny version that can be used as a keyring or clipped to your bag to ensure that your hair remains tangle-free even on the go.
Moriage & York Apothecary White Orchid & Ginger Room Spray (R45)
This is a brand I’ve only just discovered, and I’m in love! Their products are incredibly budget-friendly and amazing quality to boot! I’ve become a huge fan of room sprays during recent months, with a different one in almost every single room in my house! They’re great for keeping your house smelling fresh, but I find that they also help to relax or calm me at the end of the day, while others boost my mood or help me to focus. Moriage & York Apothecary White Orchid & Ginger Room Spray is a very pretty, subtle scent that I like to spritz in our bedroom in the evenings, but I also have one in our guest bathroom as it’s a great way of keeping unpleasant odours at bay – without that nasty, tell-tale toilet spray scent! Available at @Home stores nationwide.
Moriage & York Apothecary Wild Rose & Sandalwood Hand Wash (R75)
There’s nothing quite like a fancy hand wash to make you feel… well, fancy! I love having special hand washes and lotions on the sink in our guest bathroom, and it’s also lovely to have a nice hand wash beside the kitchen sink. Needless to say, a lovely hand wash is always a welcome gift in my books! I particularly love this beauty from Moriage & York Apothecary – firstly, because it’s HUGE and lasts for ages, and the price tag ain’t too bad either! It’s smells absolutely divine, doesn’t leave my hands feeling dry, and it seems really expensive – even though it’s not! Such a lovely gift idea – pair it with the matching hand lotion for an extra special gift. Available at @Home stores nationwide.
Big Magic by Elizabeth Gilbert (R175)
I love, love, LOVE this book! As I said in the video, this is my book of the year for 2015, and I truly think that every creative should read this – in fact, if Elizabeth is to be believed, everyone is creative; therefore, EVERYONE should read this! I’ve already bought a copy of this book for one of my best friends, and I can see I’m going to be stocking up on a few more copies soon. It’s a must-read – even if you aren’t an Elizabeth Gilbert fan! Available for R175 over here, while I’ve seen it at Exclusive Books for well over R200.
Marble Makeup Brush Holder (R79)
I spotted this in the bathroom section at H&M about a month ago, and I simply had to have it (yes, this is one of those gifts… you know, the ones you have no intention of letting go of!) Although I think it’s supposed to be a toothbrush holder, I’m using mine to store my makeup brushes.
Marble Trinket Dish (R129)
My first trip to H&M was actually solely so that I could get my hands on this adorable little trinket dish, which I’ve started using for some of my blog photographs. I spotted it on their website and literally went to the Waterfront store the next day (yes, aaaall the way from Somerset West – I was that smitten!) It would look great on your dressing table as a little place to store your rings and other jewellery bits, but I also think it would look fab in the kitchen or entryway as a place to keep your keys and loose change.
Marble Candle (R149)
I already had both of the above-mentioned items in my shopping basket when I spotted this beautiful scented candle near the pay point. Given my love for candles (as mentioned earlier in this blog post) and the fact that I’d already stocked up on two marble-look items for my dressing table, I decided I needed this candle. I know there are many women who’d fancy this, too – it’s an easy, chic and budget-friendly buy that will bring beauty to any coffee table. (In case it isn’t clear – this is also available from H&M – a.k.a. my new favourite shop!)
Malee Repairing Tissue Oil (R595 for 100ml)
This luxurious tissue oil is a great pressie for the skincare buff in your life – it contains Japanese Camellia Oil, Sweet Almond oil and skin tightening peptides to help improve you skin’s elasticity over time. Pure luxury in the form of a deliciously lightweight body oil! Get it here.
Malee Verdure Room Mist (R325 for 100ml)
I am obsessed with this room spray. OB. SESSED. It is utterly, utterly divine and boosts my mood in an instant. Inspired by Africa’s wetlands, this beauty is made up of uplifting notes of citrus, mint and patchouli. It’s ideal for homebodies, like me! Get it here.
Malee Verdue Anti-Aging Hand Creme (R225)
Toiletries are a popular choice for Christmas gifts, but if you’re looking for something that’s a tad more special than the usual store-bought gift sets, Malee is the perfect choice. I adore their hand washes and luxurious hand cremes – this Verdure Anti-Aging Hand Creme being my favourite of the bunch! Get it here.
Eetrite Rose Gold Cutlery Set (R1299 for 16 pieces)
As well as being the festive season and the holiday season, December is also wedding season. If you’re heading to a wedding this month, this beautiful Rose Gold cutlery makes for an amazing, one-of-kind gift that’s bang-on-trend to boot! Otherwise, it’d make the ideal Christmas pressie for any style-conscious foodie friends, your parents, or your housemate (bonus – you’ll get to use and look at them too!) The cutlery set comprises of 18% chromium, which – in layman’s terms – basically means that it’s extra-durable, rust-free, and set to last you a lifetime. And they’re SO pretty!
Everything from LUSH
And what would Christmas (or any birthday, anniversary, etc, etc) be without a bagful of LUSH treats? This year, I couldn’t resist buying the sweet little Dashing Santa (R48,50 – I buy it for Beanie’s stocking every Christmas), Luxury LUSH Pud (R54,50), and Stardust (R49,50), which all form part of the Christmas collection. I also bought LUSH’s deliciously peachy Beautiful Shower Gel (R80), as part of my mom’s birthday gift, and the minute I spotted The Experimenter (R65), I knew it had to be mine. You can find all these products (and MORE!) at your nearest LUSH store, or online, here.
Cloud 9 Original Styler (R2, 395)
If you’re really looking to spoil someone who’s been very, very, very good this year, this little beauty’s the answer. What makes this flat iron stand out from all the rest is the fact that it allows you to style your hair at a lower temperature than ever before – and, as you’d expect, less heat = less damage! If you submit your hair to heat styling on a daily basis like I do, this is the perfect flat iron for you. It leaves my hair looking sleek and super-shiny, and I don’t feel as though I’m frying my hair every time I use it! It’s a life changer. Now for the bit that will make your month – RetailBox is currently selling the Cloud 9 Original for R2 099 – that’s a saving of R300! Go get it, here – go, go, GO!
