Tried, tested & loved: Mama Mio Tummy Rub Butter & Mama Mio Pregnancy Boob Tube

Tried, tested & loved: Mama Mio Tummy Rub Butter & Mama Mio Pregnancy Boob Tube

Ok, hold your horses – I am most definitely not pregnant, but two of my sisters-in-law are, which means there are plenty of pregnancy- and baby-related posts coming up. When I found out that my brother’s wife (and my little ‘sussie’) was expecting, I immediately told her to stock up on Mama Mio’s products.

I used the Mama Mio Tummy Rub Butter religiously throughout my pregnancy (read more here and here) and I’ll happily vouch for the efficacy of this product. Despite the fact that stretch marks are most definitely in my genetics and I have quite a few stretch marks on my thighs, thanks to a pubescent growth spurt, I don’t have a single stretch mark left after my pregnancy. I also used Mama Mio’s Boob Tube constantly throughout the three years that I breastfed Beanie, and I’m convinced that this product is at least partially responsible for the fact that my boobs are still relatively full and somewhat ‘perky’.

I think it’s pretty clear where my feelings lie when it comes to Mama Mio’s range of skincare products for new and expecting mamas, but I thought it would be fun to ask my sister-in-law, San-Mari, to try a couple of products and give me her honest feedback.

Can you tell us a bit more about your pregnancy and how you’re feeling?

“Exhausted, times a million! My fatigue might be exaggerated because I’m doing my postgrad in education this year, but I’m really struggling with exhaustion. This is my first pregnancy and I’m 21 weeks this week, so my teeny bump has only recently started showing. Despite this, I’ve been using the Mama Mio Tummy Rub Butter every day since I got it, and I think this might explain why I haven’t experienced any of the itchy or tight sensations that so many pregnant women experience.

I have a few stretch marks as a result from a growth spurt when I was a teenager and I definitely don’t want any more, so I’ve been applying my Mama Mio Tummy Rub Butter religiously every day. It’s also a lovely, soothing ritual that allows me the opportunity to bond with my bump and my babe inside – it’s definitely contributing to a positive experience with my growing bump!

The Mama Mio Boob Tube has also come in very handy, especially after a long day in class. Often, my boobs feel so sore and tender, that even my shirt touching my nipples hurts! I usually take a long, hot shower when I get home from class, then apply some Mama Mio Pregnancy Boob Tube and I can almost hear my boobs thanking me!”

Have you heard of Mama Mio’s pregnancy skincare products before? What were your first impressions of the Mama Mio Tummy Rub Butter and Mama Mio Pregnancy Boob Tube?

“I’d hear about Mama Mio, but hadn’t heard of these specific products. I know my sister-in-law, Chereen, loves their products, and after using them myself, I totally agree. They’re different to any other products I’ve ever used before – they’re really indulgent and luxurious; it’s like having a spa pamper in the comfort of your own bathroom!”

Can you tell us a bit more about the scent of these products? Many expectant mamas have a very sensitive sense of smell when pregnant – have the scents of these products put you off using them in any way?

“Both have a lovely, soothing scent – although the scent of the Pregnancy Boob Tube took some getting used to, as it’s quite a bit stronger than the Tummy Rub Butter’s smell. That said, I got used to the scent very quickly, and although it may smell a bit strong at first, it leaves just a hint of the scent once it’s on your skin. After using the product for a good couple of months, I’ve developed a positive connotation to the smell now – I feel instantly relaxed and ready for my at-home spa pamper the minute I open the jar, or squeeze out some Pregnancy Boob Tube magic!”

What are the textures of these products like? Are they easily absorbed into the skin, or do you have to wait a bit for the cream to sink into your skin properly before dressing?

“Both the texture of the Tummy Rub Butter and the Pregnancy Boob Tube are utterly divine! The Mama Mio Tummy Rub Butter is so deliciously thick and creamy, yet it melts into my skin very quickly leaving it feeling soft and silky, with a hint of the soothing scent lingering on my skin. I don’t have to wait at all before getting dressed – it absorbs instantly.

The Mama Mio Pregnancy Boob Tube is a very silky formula that’s thinner than the Tummy Rub Butter, but it’s still incredibly moisturising and leaves my skin feeling very happy, healthy and hydrated.”

Any final thoughts? And would you recommend this product to family and friends?

“I love using Mama Mio’s range of pregnancy skincare products – they’re so luxurious, and I feel like I’m taking really good care of myself and my body. Falling pregnant has brought a whole new level of my relationship with my body to light, and I feel that using Mama Mio’s soothing, caring products has deepened my bond with both my body and my babe. I can’t put my finger on why exactly, but I think it has to do with the luxe texture and heavenly scent; it’s as though my body is thanking me for treating it while it’s working so hard to grow my beautiful baby.

I’d definitely use these products again, and I’d also recommend them to family and friends. It’s a really special range of products that go above and beyond, while giving you exactly the pampering boost you need when growing a tiny human!”

I loved reading through San-Mari’s thoughts on these products so much – made me think back to when I was pregnant and the incredibly special bond that you have with your body, your bump and your baby! I’m also so excited to meet my little niece or nephew – dubbed ‘Foefels’ for now – come September. I totally expect that I’ll be wearing Foefels in a wrap carrier and writing up a blog post or two while babysitting during San-Mari’s exams… can’t wait!
