There are three simple pleasures in life that make me feel ridiculously fancy. These are: a gorgeous set of hand wash and hand lotion in my bathroom, a soothing linen and room mist to set the stage for bedtime, and sweet-smelling bath bombs, of course. I recently found all three (and so much more) at the Body Treats Store and Beauty Studio in Wellington… and just in time for Mother’s Day, too!
I’ve literally just washed my hands and moisturised them using Body Treats’ exquisite new Pomegranate Hand Wash and Hand Lotion, and I spritzed some Pomegranate Linen & Room Spray into the air as I sat down to type up this blog post. All three boast the most incredibly pretty, calming scent… they smell fresh and fruity, but not overly so, and they also aren’t sickly sweet – unlike so many other fruity products I’ve sniffed before. There’s no better way to describe the scent: it’s pretty, soft, and feminine… the perfect pick to spoil your mom this Mother’s Day!
Something I love about local beauty brand, Body Treats, is the fact that all their products are made using the very best natural ingredients, and they’re also vegan-friendly and endorsed by Beauty Without Cruelty. Their products are slowly taking over my bathroom shelves (we use their kids range for Beanie, The Husband uses the luxury Eczema soap, and I’m obsessed with their Peppermint Shea Butter soap, to name just a few), and their new Pomegranate range is no exception.
All Body Treats products are free from mineral oils, petrochemicals, parabens, alcohol, and sodium laurel sulphate (SLS), to name just a few nasties. The lack of sodium laurel sulphate is immediately noticeable when using the Pomegranate Hand Wash – SLS is the ingredient that causes most hand and body washes to foam, but it also leaves your skin feeling instantly dry and in need of some extra moisture. When washing my hands with the Pomegranate Hand Wash, I can immediately tell that it contains no harsh, drying ingredients – it boasts a lovely, lightweight formula that leaves my hands feeling thoroughly cleansed, but pampered at the same time. To top it all off, it smells absolutely heavenly.
The Pomegranate Hand Lotion is a lovely and light lotion that is instantly absorbed into the skin – no need to worry about slippery hands after applying the cream! I love the smell and feel of this hand lotion so much, that I’m guilty of moisturising my entire body with it. It leaves my skin feeling so soft and smooth, and – once again – I just can’t get enough of the scent.
Most long-time readers will know that I’m a bit of a sucker for bath bombs, and Beanie and The Husband usually include a few bath bombs as part of my Mother’s Day, birthday, and Christmas gifts. To me, there’s simply nothing better than a long soak in the tub, complete with a skin-softening bath bomb or bath melt to top off the experience. I discovered Body Treats’ range of bath bombs and bubble bars a couple of months ago, and I absolutely love them. They’re made using only the very best natural, skin-loving ingredients, and they’re also very reasonably priced when compared to other bath bombs out there. At roughly R30 each, you can literally get two for the price of what you would pay for other, more well-known bath bombs available on the market.
This beautiful Rose Bath Bomb (R30 – available online here) is made using 100% natural ingredients, including rose essential oil, and makes for a truly indulgent bath time experience. Simply pop it into your bath water, and watch it fizz and bubble, releasing a luxurious blend of essential oils to help you relax and unwind. Bath bombs are such a luxurious little treat, and I have no doubt that most moms out there will absolutely love a bomb or two included in her gift!
Getting back to the new Pomegranate range (which is only available at the Body Treats Store and Beauty Studio in Wellington for the time being, but should be available online next week), and I’ve saved my personal favourite for last. As much as I love the Pomegranate Hand Wash and Hand Lotion, I simply can’t get enough of the Pomegranate Linen & Room Spray. There’s something so indulgent about spraying a beautiful-smelling mist onto your linen before you get into the covers at night – there’s just something about it that makes me feel giddy with happiness. This particular mist is ideal for spritzing onto your linen and curtains, and the fact that it contains absolutely no alcohol or other nasties means that you can rest assured that it won’t leave any stains. I love misting this onto my pillow and duvet in the evenings right before I get into bed, and I’ll often light up a candle to make my bedtime ritual feel even more special.
The Pomegranate range is available for purchase at the Body Treats Store & Beauty Studio at Welgelee Plein Shopping Centre in Wellington, along with some gorgeous once-off, limited edition goodies made specially for Mother’s Day. They’re also running an amazing Mother’s Day special at the moment – simply book a Rejuvenate Facial for R390, and you’ll receive a Spa Ritual pedicure for free.
