The past few weeks have been an absolute blur as we prepare for our move to Johannesburg later this month. We’ve spent most of our time packing up our home (and doing a major decluttering session – we’re downscaling big time), meeting up with friends and family to savour these last few weeks with them, and spending time in some of our favourite spots in and around the Western Cape.
We’ve spent a lot of time at Vergelegen Wine Estate in the four years since moving to Somerset West and it’s fast become one of my family’s favourite places to explore. They have the most amazing playground and kid-friendly spaces for Beanie to run wild, their restaurant is top notch, and there are several historical buildings on the property to explore, too. But quite possibly my favourite thing to do at Vergelegen is to explore the beautiful gardens and forests in the estate.
I’ve never been big on winter fashion, but I’ve really embraced cosy sweaters and warm knits this year. Case in point? This stylish off-the-shoulder knit that I’ve been living in this winter. When we found ourselves at Vergelegen a couple of weekends ago, I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to capture a few shots to show off my go-to outfit of the moment. This knit is warm, it’s cosy, and it works well paired with my favourite leggings, plus I think that it offers something a little different to a regular jersey. I love the fact that’s it’s off-the-shoulder – a bit of a sexy, stylish twist for the drab winter months!
(As an aside, these leggings are the bomb! I have two pairs – both in black – and they’re my longest-lasting leggings by far. No holes in sight, despite wearing them almost daily. They’re also really affordable at R129 each – snap up a pair for yourself over here).
I’ve been on the prowl for the perfect ankle boots for ages, so when I spotted these gorgeous beauties with tassled detailing from Madison, I knew I had to have them. I haven’t been big on wearing heels in recent years, so I was relieved to find that these are actually rather comfortable to wear and they’re really easy to walk in (there’s nothing worse than toddling around looking like a five year old in her mom’s high heels!) I love wearing them with my leggings, but I’ve been known to tuck my skinny jeans into them as well – they’re a quick and easy way to look instantly polished and put together. (The black version is all sold out over on Zando, but the taupe ones are equally gorgeous. Would it be frowned upon if I snapped up these ones as well…?)
