Over the past two years, I’ve gone from having one baby to buy Christmas gifts for (my own), to a whopping FOUR – and that’s only counting my nephews and niece, never mind all my friends who have had babies over the past year or so!
I tend to go a little over the top during the festive season, and I love buying gifts for ALL the babies – but my budget doesn’t always allow for this. Thankfully, I spotted a whole bunch of fun, brightly coloured, and educational toys over at Clicks this year… and so many of them cost less than R100! What’s more, Clicks always seems to have some or other special deal on offer, whether it’s 20% off the marked price or the increasingly popular 3-for-2 mix-and-match special.
TIP: Keep an eye out for the little purple pressie sticker on selected items. Buy any three goodies marked with this sticker, and you’ll receive the cheapest for free. Bargain! Is it any wonder that I’ve done most of my Christmas shopping at Clicks this year?
Here’s a quick look at some of the adorable items I’ll be gifting this year:
One can never have too may soft toys, right? Beanie and I are donating a few small gifts to under-privileged kiddies this year, and I couldn’t resist adding this fluffy little puppy to the one parcel, along with a new outfit and a pair of shoes. The whole gift came to around R250, and I honestly wish I could see this little girl’s face when she sees this super-cute soft toy! It’s even cuter in real life than it is in photographs, and at just R100, I’m so tempted to buy one for myself, too!
Beanie had a very similar toy when he was a teeny baby (in fact, I’ve still got it packed away in storage somewhere), and it was an absolute life saver – especially in the car. It’s the perfect shape and size to fit tiny little hands, and the black and white design is especially eye-catching for smaller babies. At 60 bucks, it’s also the perfect stocking filler.
I remember my brother and I had one of these when we were younger, and I looked for one literally everywhere I went during Beanie’s first couple of years, to no avail. When I spotted this one on Clicks’ website, I immediately added it to my shopping cart. I think it’d be the perfect gift for my nearly-two-year-old niece, who is starting to recognise different shapes and colours.
My brother is a musician, so I just knew that he’d appreciate this fun rainmaker with its colourful beads that spin and swirl… hopefully my one-year-old nephew will get a turn to make some fun sounds and will enjoy it just as much!
When in doubt, get bath toys! Or that’s my belief anyway, because – let’s face it – which baby doesn’t love some water play? This five-piece scoop and splash set is ideal for babies over 6 months, and apart from offering hours of play, it’ll also help to develop their fine motor skills.
