We’ve been in our new house for four months now, which seems to be just the right amount of time to start feeling at home… and also means that we’ve had enough time to discover everything that’s wrong with the house.
To be fair, there isn’t too much to complain about (a bigger garden would be nice), but one vital thing that’s been driving me nuts since we first moved in is our temperamental oven. I’ve managed to burn every single thing I’ve tried to cook in the oven since we first moved in, but it was only after the first three or four burnt suppers that I realised that my cooking skills were not to blame, and that it was the broken oven’s fault. There must be a setting wrong or something, but you basically have to cook everything for 20 minutes less and at least 10 degrees lower than the recipe instructs.
Fortunately, the opportunity to put the new LG NeoChef Microwave with Smart Inverter through its paces soon presented itself, which means that I’ve barely had to use the oven at all these past couple of months. From basic tasks like heating up leftovers and cooking rice to more complicated jobs like baking cakes and roasting vegetables, the LG NeoChef Microwave with Smart Inverter does it all. You can literally cook whole meals in there – and I have!
In fact, apart from being a really stunning addition to any modern family kitchen, the LG Neochef is ideal for students and for those moving out for the first time, as you can pretty much get away with cooking all of your meals in the microwave. We’ve grilled Fry’s ‘chicken’ nuggets and their veggie sausage rolls in the microwave, and I’ve even managed to cook a quick and easy (and scrummy!) Ratatouille and a delicious veggie cottage pie in the NeoChef. After burning the first two layers of Bean’s birthday cake in our oven, I ended up baking the cake in the NeoChef and I couldn’t believe the end result. This microwave is seriously magical and makes juggling work and other life stuff (like cooking wholesome, nutritious meals) about a billion times easier and more manageable.
My favourite features
The LG NeoChef Microwave with Smart Inverter technology boasts so many amazing features that I could easily write an entire book on the subject… but I won’t. Instead, I’ve picked out just a few of my favourite features – the ones I never knew I couldn’t live without – that I think you should know about:
Sleek, modern design. There are no two ways about it: the LG NeoChef is seriously stunning, and it’s racked up a number of world-renowned design awards to prove it! It boasts an integrated control panel with a pop-out dial to add to the microwave’s sleek good looks, and it has a handy cooking guide hidden behind the door. (I also really like that it has a rounded, pocket-style handle to the side – I find that it’s a more child-friendly option, as Beanie simply hasn’t figured out where the handle is yet!)
Child-friendly. On that note, the LG NeoChef actually does have a child-lock feature for those of us who happen to have curious little critters in the home, and I find that the pop-out dial also helps prevent little ones from changing any settings while in use.
It reheats (and defrosts) food faster that I ever thought possible. With thanks to its Smart Inverter technology, the LG NeoChef microwave is able to defrost and reheat food much quicker than ever before, and more evenly too. You know how you always end up getting those cold spots when reheating food? I’ve found that this doesn’t happen with the NeoChef, and I also love that my morning cuppa takes literally 20 seconds to reheat properly.
It’s easy to clean (and so much more hygenic). I don’t know about you, but just the mere thought of a dirty microwave makes me cringe (thinking back to my varsity days and our communal res microwave… gross!) As a result, I’m pretty fastidious when it comes to wiping down our microwave after every use, so you can imagine my joy when I discovered that the LG NeoChef features a 99,99% Anti-Bacterial EasyClean interior coating that makes my job a whole lot easier (all it takes is a couple of quick wipes). It also eliminates 99,99% of harmful bacteria from sticking to the interiors of the microwave. That’s me sold!
It’s adaptable. The LG NeoChef adapts to incoming power levels, which means that you can always rely on your NeoChef – even in areas with low voltage or low-incoming power supply (up to a minimum of 300 Watts).
It sings! The one thing that used to drive me completely batty about our old microwave was the obtrusive (and incessant) ‘ping‘ that alerted us to the fact that it had completed it’s task. The LG NeoChef has a much friendlier and more cheerful approach: it plays a little ditty to let you know that it’s finished (and it even plays a little tune to alert you to the fact that you need to turn over whatever you’re cooking – for example, to turn over the chicken when cooking a roast. Yep, it does that too).
It literally does it all. The LG NeoChef is so much more than your regular microwave: apart from reheating and defrosting your food, it also roasts and grills your food, and acts as a warmer, a fryer, and even a yoghurt maker!
I’ll admit that I was incredibly intimidated when I first received the LG NeoChef as it seemed like such a powerful and complex gadget, but I needn’t have worried: I managed to get the hang of using the NeoChef fairly quickly and easily (I didn’t even have to read the whole manual) and I’ve had so much fun experimenting and trying out all sorts of recipes ever since. I have a few great recipes that I’ve discovered that I’ll be sharing with you soon – including a recipe for most delicious, vegan-friendly chocolate mug cake…ever!
