A summery festive table decor idea featuring RAkt | Made For Table

We’re hosting Christmas lunch at our new house this year, and I am beyond excited. I’m not a huge fan of cooking, so I’ll be leaving that up to The Husband, but I’m really looking forward to welcoming our family into our home, decorating said home – and putting together a beautiful festive table, of course!

Since we’ll be doing things a little differently this year (we plan on starting the day with a relaxed hike, followed by a dip in the river and a wholesome, summery, vegan-friendly feast), I want our table decor to reflect that. No tinsel or baubles, and certainly no green, red, or gold touches – I’m fully embracing the summer season, and these bright and beautiful placemats and coasters from RAkt | Made For Table are the perfect starting point for my planning.

Founded by Nadine Anderson, RAkt features a stunning range of disposable placemats and coasters that are inspired by clean lines, nature, and flowers. They’re all printed in South Africa and designed to make entertaining fun (and a whole lot easier!) Simply add a beautiful jug with some blooms, your best crockery, and you’re all set to wow your guests.

Given the season, I went with these fun watermelon placemats (R220 for 24) and matching coasters (R120 for 8) from the Summer Collection. If you’re looking for something a little more traditional for your Christmas feast, I highly recommend that you check out the Luxe Collection (oh, and there’s a fun Kids Collection, too!)

RAkt’s placemats and coasters are incredibly lightweight and they don’t take up much space, so they’re perfect for taking along on your travels if you’re spending the holiday season elsewhere. You can reuse them, then throw them out when they’re looking a little worse for wear – no mess, no fuss! (RAkt’s also launched laminated placemats that you can wipe down after use and that will last a little longer than the paper placemats, if that’s more your vibe).

I’m such a huge fan of the styling and decor at The Posthouse here in Greyton – so much so, that I’ve started hauling out my Granny’s vintage teacups and my beautiful vintage-style coloured glasses and actually using them for a change! I’ve been inspired to use these on Christmas Day, but I really wanted to showcase the beautiful decor and artwork at The Posthouse, so I asked them whether I could pop in on a quiet day to have some fun playing around, styling a table, and shooting some photographs. The images featured in this post were all taken in The Posthouse’s exquisite dining room and feature RAkt’s stunning watermelon placemats and coasters. I think they turned out pretty well, don’t you? This whole experience has made me even more excited for Christmas Day… if that’s even possible!

If you’re still looking for table decor ideas, I urge you to get down to one of RAkt |Made For Table’s stockists ( Try The Blockhouse in Canal Walk, The Blockhouse in Willowbridge Centre, or The Pause Room in Table Bay Mall. You can also purchase the range online on Facebook or at Hello Pretty). I can guarantee that it’ll be your prettiest, easiest table decor yet! They’d also make fabulous gifts for the hostess with the mostest… (or for those of us who love to host, but need all the help we can get!)

I’m currently lusting after these beauties, and these Abstract Canape Boards (R250 for a set of two) are on my Christmas wish list. Which designs have you got your eye on?

Drop a comment down below, and keep an eye on my Instagram account – I have an amazing giveaway coming up tomorrow that includes a bunch of local lovelies, including these watermelon placemats and coasters from RAkt | Made For Table.
