I have tried many beauty products over the past decade – some good, some bad, some really, really good – but when it comes down to it, there are only a handful of beauty products that I repurchase over and over again.
Once such product is the iconic Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse (R310 for 50ml at Woolworths), a multi-purpose dry oil that can be used on your face, body, and hair. Long before beauty oils became a thing, Nuxe Huile Prodigieuse developed a cult following and was considered a beauty staple by top beauty editors, models, and celebrities. And with good reason: this luxurious dry body oil (emphasis on dry) has a velvety-soft finish that simply melts into your skin, with no hint of stickiness or greasiness to speak of.
Better yet, it can be used in a number of different ways: massaged into your skin leaving it feeling silky soft and smooth; applied to the ends of your hair to fight frizz and add shine; dabbed onto your shins and collarbone for a sexy sheen, or you can mix a couple of drops into your moisturiser or foundation for a dewy glow. You can even dribble some into your bath water for an indulgent soak!
This multi-award winning oil is enriched with Vitamin E and draws on the benefits of precious botanical oils (such as Camellia seed oil, Argan oil, sweet almond oil, borage oil, Tsubaki oil, Macadamia oil, and Hazelnut oil) to soften, soothe, and nourish dry skin and damaged, brittle hair. And I haven’t even touched upon the exquisite, distinctive scent yet! This warm, intoxicating aroma (that smells just like summer to me) has developed such a following that Nuxe have even created a fragrance that smells exactly like it!
As someone who’s brought copious bottles of Huile Prodigieuse in the past, I was really excited to get my hands on a bottle of Nuxe Prodigieux Le Parfum (R765 at Woolworths). This is not the first time I’ve spoken about my love of fragrance layering to ensure the longevity of your scent, but there’s just something extra special about layering Nuxe Prodigieux Le Parfum over the top of Huile Prodigieuse. It just feels more luxurious – and given the fact that fragrance molecules tend to bind better to oil molecules, your fragrance will also stick around much longer than usual.
Better yet? The Nuxe Festive Parfum Set (R765 at Woolworths) contains the dry body oil and the fragrance, as well as 30ml scented shower gel, so you can layer your fragrance to your heart’s content.
Using this shower gel paired with both the Huile Prodigieuse body oil and perfume is a truly indulgent experience that adds a little bit of luxe to my daily routine. Never have I been as excited to hop into the shower, or to apply body oil! It’s been a very welcome bit of self-care at the end of a long year.
I’ve already decided that Prodigieux Le Parfum will be my fragrance of Summer 2018, so that when I sniff a whiff of this heady scent in years to come, I’ll immediately be transported back to our first summer as Greytonians.
