Before I get started on my review of Zoflora, an iconic disinfectant that’s currently taking the world by storm, there’s one thing you should know about me: I am not a fan of cleaning.
I am not one of those influencers who has a pristine house with a strict cleaning schedule – even though I wish I was! I often find myself going down a rabbit hole watching cleaning videos on YouTube and Instagram, hoping that it will inspire me to follow suit, but alas. There are hundreds of other things I’d rather do – like take a nap, for one.
Don’t get me wrong: I love having a clean, tidy home and can’t stand being surrounded by clutter and chaos. I just prefer not to be the one doing all the mopping, vacuuming and cleaning! That said, I’d much rather live in a clean and orderly home than forego household chores, so I try to make my daily cleaning tasks as pleasurable as possible: I’ll often listen to music or a podcast while I clean, and I always treat myself to chocolate afterwards!
Something else that’s currently adding a little pleasure to keeping a clean home? ZOFLORA! Zoflora is a concentrated disinfectant that was made popular by several bloggers and influencers (including Mrs Hinch), and is known to kill 99,9% of bacteria and viruses – including the Corona virus! I completely and utterly get the hype after using their beautifully-scented range of concentrated disinfectants for about a month now. Now I find myself wiping down my kitchen counters every chance I get, and the bathroom sink gets a wipe down every. single. morning. I am obsessed with Zoflora, and I think a lot of it has got to do with the sheer sensory joy I get from using it – it smells absolutely heavenly, and it’s so easy to use. Simply pour two capfuls of your choice of disinfectant (Linen Fresh is my favourite) into your spray bottle, top with water, grab your Zoflora microfibre cloth, and you’re all set.
You can use Zoflora on just about anything: to wipe down kitchen and bathroom counters, to clean the loo, to disinfect the toilet brush, to wipe down windows and mirrors, as a tile cleaner… the uses truly are endless, and I’m still finding new uses for Zoflora as I go! Here are 16 of my favourite uses for Zoflora – give them a try, and let me know what you think!
To clean your washing machine
I like to use diluted Zoflora to give my washing machine a good wipe down after every use, and I also add a capful of neat Zoflora to an empty drum before doing a hot wash to clean the inside of my machine.
Added to your laundry
I also add a capful of neat Zoflora to my towel and linen loads to kill bacteria – it also leaves my laundry smelling incredible! I add a capful to my fabric softener compartment (I use laundry pods), but you can also add a capful directly in the drum.
To clean and disinfect couches
Once I’ve diluted Zoflora in my spray bottle, I often spritz my couches and pillows to help kill any bacteria and to leave them smelling fresh. Particularly helpful if you have pets that sit or sleep on your furniture! I’ve also found that Zoflora helps to get rids of spills and stains on my couches – you may want to do a patch test on a hidden spot that isn’t too visible first though, just to be safe. So far, I’ve had no issues with Zoflora staining or leaving marks on my furniture.
To clean and disinfect carpets
Zoflora is also fantastic for getting rid of stains on rugs and carpets, while killing any bacteria and germs at the same time. It also leaves your home smelling utterly divine. (Again, do a small patch test on a spot that isn’t too visible, just to be on the safe side).
To refresh and disinfect curtains
I don’t get round to washing my curtains nearly as often as I should, but I feel so much better about this since discovering Zoflora. I simply use my diluted Zoflora mix in my spritz bottle and spray directly onto my curtains at least once a week. (That’s a lie. I love the smell so much that I end up doing this most mornings!)
On your mattress
I’ve started spritzing diluted Zoflora onto my mattress every time I change my linen. I spray a generous amount onto my mattress, then leave it to dry before putting on fresh bedding. Not only will doing this leave your bed smelling amazing, but it will also get rid of any bacteria lurking in your mattress.
To wipe down cellphones, keyboards, and TV remotes
I am absolutely fanatical when it comes to wiping down my cellphone, laptop, and TV remotes, and Zoflora has made this little chores so much easier and more pleasurable for me! I spritz some diluted Zoflora onto a microfibre cloth, then simply wipe down my phone, laptop keyboard, and remotes.
To disinfect face masks
After washing our family’s face masks in warm, soapy water, I like to pop them into a basin of water with a capful of Zoflora to kill 99,9% of bacteria and viruses – including Corona virus. Added bonus? Our masks always smell absolutely incredible after soaking them in the diluted Zoflora solution.
To clean dustbins – and keep nasty odours at bay
I give my kitchen and bathroom bins a wipe-down with Zoflora at least once a week. I’ll then add a capful of Zoflora to the bin, before topping it up with water and leaving it to soak for a couple of hours. Once rinsed and dry, I add a drop or two of neat Zoflora to the bottom of the bin before popping in a bin liner and plastic bag. This kills germs and bacteria, and keeps any nasty odours at bay.
In your car
I’ll often spritz a diluted Zoflora solution onto my car’s seats and upholstery to kill any bacteria, while leaving my car smelling fresh and clean. I also wipe down the steering wheel, dashboard, and handbrake – I think these areas are so often overlooked, and breeding grounds for bacteria! You can also soak the removable mats in a Zoflora solution to clean and disinfect them.
On your toilet brush
I briefly mentioned that you can use Zoflora to clean and disinfect your loo, but I wanted to mention this one in greater detail as a toilet brush is my absolute worst! I see the need for them, but I hate them and replace mine at least every other month. Thankfully I’ve discovered Zoflora, which is making this little household necessity a little more bearable for me. I add a capful of neat Zoflora directly to my toilet brush holder – this kills any germs lurking in the holder, and also leaves that heavenly Zoflora scent lingering in the air.
To clean your shoes
I like to spritz my Zoflora and water solution directly onto my shoes to get rid of any bacteria and to leave them smelling nice and fresh. (Again, you may want to do a patch test first, but I haven’t had any issues so far). This is particularly for exercise fanatics – no sweaty, stinky running shoes around here!
To wipe down door knobs and handles
I’ve always been a bit OCD when it comes to wiping down door knobs and handles around the house – just the thought of all the bacteria and germs lurking on them is enough to make me feel ill! A quick wipe down with your Zoflora and water solution will eliminate any bacteria in no time at all.
To clean and disinfect light switches
Much like door knobs and handles, light switches are a hot spot when it comes to germs and bacteria. Spritz some Zoflora and water solution onto a microfibre cloth and wipe down light switches to get rid of sticky finger marks (I have a 7-year-old in the house after all!) and kill bacteria in one go.
To clean and disinfect your handbag
I use my Zoflora and water solution, spritzed onto my Zoflora microfibre cloth, to wipe down the outside of my handbag. Handbags are another items that are a hot spot when it comes to germs and bacteria, so I like to do this at least once a week. I have a faux leather bag, so if you have a leather or fabric handbag, be sure to do a patch test first.
As a linen spray
I have a cat who spends most afternoons lazing on my bed, and I also have a 7-year-old who is prone to diving and jumping onto my bed – sticky fingers and all! I like to spritz my linen with a Zoflora and water solution after making my bed every morning – this ensures that any bacteria is eliminated, while leaving my bedroom smelling heavenly.
As I said, these are just a few of the uses I’ve discovered in the month since I started using Zoflora… apart from the obvious, like wiping down kitchen and bathroom counters, cleaning the bath, and as a tile cleaner. Are there any other uses for Zoflora that you swear by? I’d love to hear them!
(And whether you’re a long-time Zoflora fanatic or you’re dying to try the range for yourself, you’ll be thrilled to know that I’ll be running an amazing giveaway alongside Zoflora over on Instagram. Head on over to my Instagram account and turn on notifications for when that giveaway goes live!)
